The latest airbag? Stuck in the middle with you!

By Colin Bertram

How many airbags are enough? According to Buick there’s always room for more, and here at VroomGirls we agree when it comes to matters of passenger safety.

Buick is introducing a front center airbag in the 2013 Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse crossovers. The airbag deploys between the two front seats in the event of a side impact to prevent the driver and front passenger from colliding with each other, and better protects occupants seated on the non-impacted side of a vehicle. It will also help during rollover impacts. Mounted in the right bolster of the driver’s seat, it looks like a side airbag when inflated. This new safety feature will come standard on Acadia and Traverse models with power front seats, while all models of the Enclave will have it.

The 2012 versions of the Traverse, Enclave and Acadia are rated Top Safety Picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, so the addition of the new airbag on the 2013 model is like adding extra bubble wrap when shipping something precious. Always a good thing.
