Ten Things to Know About The 2016 Honda Accord

1

Not your bland, blah mid-size sedan! We adore what Honda has done to the 2016 Accord styling. Two words: premium and sophisticated. Even perky (shoot, that’s three!) A welcome change for this longtime favorite five-seater. Also, we love that the 2016 Honda Accord still is available in both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

2

Enhancements like standard LED taillights, halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights, a sharper-styled front grille, sportier-looking interior gauges, and more premium fabrics and trims conspire to bring the new 2016 Accord into the forefront of the popular mid-size four-door segment.

3

Huge trunk can accommodate even the most ambitious trips to the warehouse store. And – new for 2016 Accord models – rear seats fold in a 60/40 split configuration, so long items can pass through from the trunk to the front seat, and still allow a passenger or two to sit in back.

4

Enhanced technology improvements include Apple CarPlay, Adroid Auto and Google voice commands for hands-free communication and better safety. Such advanced connectivity on the 2016 Honda Accord allows smart phone apps to appear and be used on the Accord’s new 7″ display audio screen.

5

Honda’s optional proprietary safety suite, called Sensing, includes Collision Braking System (helps to avoid a front-end crash), Road Departure Mitigation (helps keep the car within the lane), Lane Keeping Assist (places the car within the center of the lane), and Adaptive Cruise Control (maintains a safe distance from the car in front.)

6

Fun interior features include groovy chronometer-look gauges, softer and more attractive interior fabrics, and a better-looking decorative panel on the dashboard. If you love tech, pop for the new optional wireless charger tray for smart phones, which is conveniently located on the center console.

7

The 2016 Honda Accord has improved front brakes, and a more responsive acceleration feel. Even the steering quality seems more connected and direct. We love the smoother ride comfort, thanks to reduced engine vibration. Overall, the 2016 Accord feels re-engineered to drive better than the outgoing model.

8

If you like a little sport mixed in with your sedan, Honda has you covered with the Sport Trim package. With this add-on, you love the sport shifter knob, fog lamps, 19″ alloy wheels, sport aluminum pedals, piano-black trim and carbon fiber-look (read: faux) paneling on the dash, sporty gauges with sassy red needles, as well as cloth and leather seating.

9

The 2016 Honda Accord Coupe – a sleeker looking five-seater – has two doors instead of four, but still an ample trunk. For those who don’t need the utility of a four door sedan, you might check out the sexier Accord Coupe. It offers the same goodies and ride quality, but with a trimmer look.

10

The 2016 Accord sedan has been engineered for a one mile per gallon improvement in highway driving over the outgoing model. Not huge, but if you look at the entire tank, that’s about 10-17 gallons more to the tankful.
