October 2011: Volkswagen Beetle
The Beetle is all new – and more masculine – but it’s still so darn cute!
By Tara Weingarten
Quick, think of a car that most represents 1960s Flower Power and the Summer of Love. Could it be anything other than the VW Beetle? What about all those surfer movies, where the Bug (as it’s affectionately known by aficionados) hangs cliffside while its blond-haired driver and his bikini babe hang ten?
We chose the new VW Beetle as our very first Car of the Month because you just can’t look at it and be in a bad mood.
We love its happy demeanor, its dome-shaped optimism, and its roomy bubble of an interior.
If you know how to drive a stick shift, you can nab this free spirit for just under $20 grand.
The new Beetle comes in several flavors – manual and automatic, turbocharged or not, and even a turbo-diesel model to debut next year. Please click HERE to read our full review of the 2012 VW Beetle.
